WELCOME to the home of the Biotech
and Pharma Professionals Network, for short the
BioPharm Network.
Our goal is to provide a world wide social and business network
within our niche: Life Sciences, Biotech, Pharma, medical
diagnostics, medical devices, laboratory work, clinical trials
and health care research. Within this niche we can offer a lot.
We will provide better opportunities to communicate between
group members and we welcome members offering business ventures
as well as recruiters.

Join Biotech & Pharma Professionals Network On LinkedIn
We opened our doors on February 28th, 2008 and now have more than
50,000 members in the group. This puts us among the
big groups on LinkedIn, and makes it easier for you to find
people to whom you want to connect. We have also set up new groups
for Medical Device Professionals, Diagnostics, and Clinical
Trials Professionals. If one of these is your field, you can join
us there too. |
|
Today, the Biotech & Pharma
Professionals Network membership reached 60,000. We are making
some changes as we pass this milestone:
1. Moving all discussion and
job posting to our group Forum
We have been getting so many
posts that members say they can't have a useful discussion,
but we cannot manage the discussions
and job posts of 50,000 members with the tools available in
LinkedIn. All the discussions and job posts for the Biotech &
Pharma Professionals Network will now be in the Forum and our
LinkedIn discussion area will close.
In our Forum we have over 40
boards, allowing topics to be organized and many people to help
with moderation. We are identifying experts who can make sure
that questions are answered within a reasonable time, while
different people will be able to moderate different boards. The
Forum also supports our services to job hunters.
Unlike on LI, posts and
discussions on the Forum are searchable, so if you use good
keywords you should get more response. If you have a blog or
other news source with a feed, we can carry your feed.
We are not leaving LinkedIn
but supplementing it. LinkedIn has great tools for finding
people and a message system which allows members to make contact
with any of the other 50,000 in our group. We will make it as
easy as possible to move between the two sites. We plan to work
with LinkedIn and see if they will help us. Our News area will
be only for information about activity on the Forum, major
industry events, and major industry news.

2. Services for members
considering a career change or actively looking for a job
If you are, or might be
looking for a job, ask for access to our private job hunter
area. We have some advice accumulated there, a board where you
can message other job seekers, and an area you can use to
connect with a mentor.
For access, register on the
Forum then send a Personal Message to Martin. You will get
access faster by using a PM. When you are logged in you can
send the PM using this link:
http://biopharmnetwork.org/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=1
.
3. Offering mentoring and
other advice to members, especially job hunters
We envisage a mentor advising
a few job hunters who are looking in the field with which the
mentor is familiar. Each job hunter probably
requires a few phone discussions, suggestions of leads with whom
they can network, and some e-mail introductions to
networking contacts. Face to face contact would be useful if
you are in the same area, but is not required.
If you can help as a mentor, please contact me:
martin@biopharmnetwork.org or, when you are logged in, by PM
http://biopharmnetwork.org/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=1
.
4. We continue to welcome and
support recruiters.
We need you more than ever before. There
are six boards to divide jobs geographically. Like our other
boards they are searchable. You can post as soon as you have
logged in. When we see you have posted, we will give you full
recruiter access.

I know changes can be disruptive, and I
appreciate your patience. I hope we can build this
Network into a significant resource for Life Science people.
Thank you very much for being one of the first 50,000.
Sincerely,
Martin

WE ARE STILL LOOKING for more
experts and moderators to help manage the discussion boards, and
for mentors: experienced people in any life science field can
help. The more we divide up the work, the less the load for
each. |
Registration on the Forum is
quick and easy. You choose your own user name and password, and
type six characters to prove you are human – no waiting, no
email verification.
|
|
To handle the new traffic, we have switched to commercial
hosting, and we now have sponsors who will pay commission on
items that members buy through links from this site. To start,
most sponsors are US based. We will look for others in the
countries of our members.
|
We think that professionals in our field should be able to
contact their colleagues easily, but your e-mail will not be
published unless you choose.
|
|
We are still transferring parts of the site to the new host: if
you find a broken link, please report it. We have replaced the
old forum, which obviously did not work. Please check out the
new forum (Forum, fora?). You can
register here: choose your own user
name and password. The new forum is searchable and has an area
for members to seek and offer commercial and business services.
Local or more specialized groups in our field are offered free
(no cost) space on the site and in the forum. Local groups
can use their own language.
|
Currently, our group is over 50,000 members located around the world: students,
researchers, professors, physicians, biotech & pharma industry
scientists; job seekers, recruiters, investors, executives,
consultants, managers, retirees, people in business development
and sales. We open our doors widely to people interested in our
field and industry. For now, we have open enrollment: all
applications for membership are being accepted, whether through LinkedIn,
Facebook,
Ecademy
or here on the
Forum.

Our group is a Network, and we
want you, the Members, to benefit from your connection: what goes around comes around, so please plan to support another member from time to time.
